After shocking reports about Nicolas Ghesquière leaving the brand Balenciaga finally named the successor for position of a creative director. Fashion designer Alexander Wang who owns an eponymous fashion label will take on the position, the press release confirmed. After long weeks of speculation and rumor Balenciaga reports:
The Balenciaga fashion house and its staff are proud to welcome Alexander Wang, whose proven talent, modernity and individual and cosmopolitan vision of design will naturally embrace and enrich the unique heritage of this fashion house which will soon be one hundred years old.Alexander Wang will run both Balenciaga and his own label. The designer said about the position:
I am deeply honored to embark on this new role for a brand and house that I have such great admiration and respect for.The designer will be designing women’s and men’s ready-to-wear as well as accessories collections. He will also start working on women’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection immediately.
